Complete backyard remodels
A backyard remodel is several installations that have to fit together: grading, hard surfaces, turf or sod, rock, plants, the irrigation that waters them, lighting, and often a pergola or kitchen. Hiring a separate company for each one leaves you coordinating schedules and sorting out who is responsible where their work meets.
We design the whole yard first and then build it with our own crew. One plan sets the levels, the drainage and where the lines run underground, so nothing has to be dug up later to make room for something that was not planned.

What we install
New-build lots
A bare dirt yard behind a new home. Everything is open, which makes it the easiest time to run irrigation, gas and electrical before any surface goes down.
Full renovations
Removing an old lawn, cracked concrete or overgrown planting and rebuilding the yard around how you use it now.
Phased projects
One design, built in stages. The first phase installs the underground work and the main surfaces so that later phases do not disturb them.
Pool-area remodels
New decking, turf, planting and shade around an existing pool, planned around its equipment and drainage.
Materials and design
- How the yard will be used
- Dining, kids, pets, entertaining and quiet seating all need different amounts of space and different surfaces. The layout starts there.
- Sun and shade
- West-facing patios take the worst of the afternoon sun. Where the seating and the shade structure go matters more than almost any material choice.
- Order of work
- Grading and underground lines come first, then hard surfaces and structures, then irrigation, planting, turf and rock, and lighting last.
Built for Arizona
- Monsoon storms drop a lot of water quickly. Grading and drainage are designed so it moves away from the house and off the patio.
- Low-water materials such as artificial turf, rock and desert-adapted plants keep the yard looking finished through summer without a large water bill.
- Many Valley neighborhoods have an HOA with rules on plants, structures and what can be seen from the street. The design accounts for those before anything is built.
How the installation goes

Explore Our WorkCommon questions
Can I remodel the yard in stages?
Yes. We design the whole yard up front and split the work into phases. The first phase covers what would be hardest to add later, such as drainage, sleeves under paving and irrigation mainlines.
Do I need a design if I already know what I want?
A plan is still worth having. It fixes sizes, levels and materials on paper, which is what makes a proposal specific and prevents changes in the middle of a build.
Will my HOA need to approve it?
Often, yes, especially for structures and anything visible from the street. Rules differ between communities, so check your HOA's guidelines early. The design drawings are usually what an HOA asks to see.
